NHL schedule: Five questions for Thursday

A daily feature which asks the five hardest-hitting questions imaginable about this day in the NHL. Will our quandaries be answered? (That doesn’t count as one of the five questions.)

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

1. Will the Pittsburgh Penguins extend their 13-game winning streak?

While he won't be in the lineup on Thursday night, the Penguins got even better on Wednesday night/Thursday morning when they acquired Jarome Iginla from the Calgary Flames. Will the Winnipeg Jets put an end to the winning streak? Because if they don't, this thing might never end once Iginla gets in the lineup (kidding ... sort of).

2. Will the New York Islanders pick up where the New York Rangers left off against the Philadelphia Flyers?

Things are ugly in Philly. New York beat up the Flyers fairly soundly on Tuesday night. With the Islanders rolling into town on Thursday, will New York’s other team continue their push for the playoffs with a win over the Flyers?

3. Will Joffrey Lupul continue his point streak?

Lupul has been killing it since coming back from injury. Six goals and an assist for seven points in four games. The Toronto Maple Leafs are hosting the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night. Will Lupul continue to produce?

4. Will the Phoenix Coyotes end their seven-game winless streak?

The Coyotes have failed to record a win in seven games. Having recorded only two points over that span, the club could use a win against the Nashville Predators. However, Nashville will enter the night on a three-game winning streak.

5. Will the Los Angeles Kings sweep the season series against the St. Louis Blues?

The Kings have won both meetings this season, outscoring the Blues, 10-5. Jeff Carter has recorded the game-winning goal in both contests and leads the team in points against St. Louis (three goals).
