Sharks vs. Canucks: Scott Gomez scores a goal

Is it Leap Year Day already?

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The San Jose Sharks signed Scott Gomez earlier this season after he was bought out of his over-sized contract with the Montreal Canadiens. San Jose hoped Gomez would help spark some secondary scoring for the team, but that hasn't materialized thus far this season ... until Tuesday night.

Gomez scored the game's opening goal midway through the first period, giving San Jose a lead over the Vancouver Canucks. Gomez jumped on a big rebound from Vancouver netminder Cory Schneider, and put it high and into the net with a strong shot.

The goal was the first for Gomez of the season, first with the San Jose Sharks, first in 23 games, first against the Vancouver Canucks and, in fact, his first since since February 2012.
