Panthers vs. Capitals: Florida pulls goalie after two goals on first two shots

With starting goalie José Théodore on injured reserve, the Florida Panthers have been relying on backups Scott Clemmensen and Jacob Markstrom to turn away pucks. That hadn't been working out that will prior to Thursday night -- and then it finally turned into a full-blown catastrophe.

Markstrom started Thursday's game against the Washington Capitals, but he was gone after three minutes and 10 seconds. That was enough time for the Capitals to register their first two shots on net -- and score two goals.

First, Capitals defenseman John Erskine let lose a slap shot that beat Markstrom. Moments later, Wojtek Wolski got him on a wrap-around that looked very stoppable.

Clemmensen was sent in to relieve the shell-shocked Markstrom ... and promptly gave up two more goals before the first period had reached the halfway point. That's four goals on eight shots for the Caps.
