Patrick Sharp injury: Blackhawks forward expected to miss 3-4 weeks

Patrick Sharp is expected to miss 3-4 weeks due to an upper-body injury.

USA TODAY Sports

Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp is expected to miss three to four weeks due to an upper-body injury, according to an announcement from the team on Friday afternoon.

While the team did not specify the injury, they did announce that it would not require surgery.

Sharp appeared to sustain the injury in Wednesday night's game against the Colorado Avalanche when he was pinned to the boards in the third period. Following the play, Sharp emerged in pain and made his way to the bench favoring his left arm. He left the game and was unable to return.

On Thursday afternoon, the Blackhawks announced that Sharp would not travel with the team to Colorado for their contest against the Avalanche on Friday night.

Chicago has currently won 21 of 24 games this season and have yet to lose a game in regulation. With injuries starting to pop up, it will be interested to see what kind of impact it has on the team’s historic run.
