The Columbus Blue Jackets are expected to sign forward Mark Letestu to a contract extension, possibly as soon as Monday, according to a report by ESPN's Pierre LeBrun.

The Blue Jackets are close to locking up a forward currently producing on the most valuable contract in the league.

Letestu, who went undrafted before being signed as a free agent out of the AHL, made his NHL debut with Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009 and put 27 pints in 64 games before being traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2011. In 2011-2012, Letestu scored 24 points in jut 51 games with Columbus before spending much of the NHL lockout with Almtuna of the Allsvenskan.
This season, Letestu is on pace for a career year, putting up nine goals and 20 points in 34 games with Columbus. On Sunday, the 28-year old forward notched the game-winning goal over Anaheim in overtime.
Letestu, who is in the final year of a two-year, $1.25 million contract, is listed by CapGeek as the most valuable player in the NHL when breaking down point production per dollar earned each game.
