Jaroslav Halak injury: Blues netminder leaves with ‘lower-body injury’

Brian Elliott replaced him in net.

Monday was a mixed night for the St. Louis Blues. Shortly before announcing a trade for Flames defenseman Jay Bouwmeester, the Blues lost starting goalie Jaroslav Halak to another injury.

When Jared Spurgeon fired a shot wide as the first period wound down, Halak stretched across his crease to try and stop the shot. Unfortunately for him, he must've strained a muscle. Halak immediately fell to the ice and lay there for a few minutes before finally skating off to the locker room. The Blues later announced he wouldn't return due to a "lower-body injury."

This probably means the Blues will recall goalie Jake Allen from the AHL.
