Nashville Predators forward Paul Gaustad and Colin Wilson will require season ending shoulder surgeries, according to general manager David Poile on Thursday afternoon.

Both players are expected to miss four months while recovering.

Gaustad has been battling shoulder issues for the majority of the season and missed six games due to an unrelated shoulder injury. The 31-year-old forward played in 23 games this season and registered a 59.7 percent success rate in the faceoff circle. He will be entering the second year of a four-year, $13 million contract that carries an annual average value of $3.25 million against the salary cap next season.

Wilson sustained his shoulder injury when he was hit into the endboards by Minnesota Wild defenseman Justin Falk on March 9. Two days later he was placed on injured reserve and ultimately was unable to play in another game this season.

In 25 games this season, the 23-year-old registered seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points. He was the team’s leading scorer in goals and points at the time of his injury. Wilson will be entering the second year of a three-year, $6 million contract next season.
