The Swedish Ice Hockey Federation has blocked the tentative agreement between the Boston Bruins and forward Carl Soderberg, according to multiple reports on Thursday afternoon.

The Bruins had reportedly signed Soderberg to a three-year contract, which would pay him $600,000 with an additional signing bonus this season and $1 million per year in the remaining two years of the deal. The only factor standing between Soderberg joining the Bruins was the transfer agreement not being accepted.
That apparently appears to be what is occurring now.
It is believed that Soderberg’s transfer will not be accepted until after the completion of the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship in May. Sweden is one of the host nations.
The Bruins originally acquired the 6’3, 210-pound forward via trade with the St. Louis Blues for goaltender Hannu Toivonen in 2007. Boston has attempted several times to convince Soderberg to play in the NHL but failed to do so. Some believed that he had no interest in ever playing in North America.
Now that he has finally agreed to play in the NHL, it appears as though another obstacle has presented itself.
