Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has been diagnosed with a mild concussion, the team announced on Thursday night.

Marchand is out indefinitely at this point after being diagnosed with a mild concussion.

General manager Peter Chiarelli was unable to provide any information and stated that he would update Marchand’s status as it develops.
Marchand sustained the injury during the second period of Wednesday night's game against the New Jersey Devils when he was elbowed by Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov around the 15-minute mark of the frame. Volchenkov was given a five-minute major for elbowing and a game misconduct. Marchand was unable to leave the ice under his own power and would not return to the game.
The NHL Department of Player Safety announced on Thursday afternoon that Volchenkov had been suspended four games for the elbow. He was also fined $91,891.88, which is the maximum allotment allowed under the collective bargaining agreement.
Marchand has compiled 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points in 38 games. He has also added five game-winning goals, which is the third most in the league.
