Washington Capitals forward Brooks Laich will not require surgery, according to head coach Adam Oates on Tuesday morning.
Brooks Laich injury: Capitals forward will not need surgery, says coach
Brooks Laich continues to battle a lingering groin injury and will not resume skating until he is pain-free.

Laich has been battling groin issues for the majority of the 2013 season and has missed the team’s last five games. He originally incurred the injury in November while playing in Switzerland during the NHL lockout. It forced him to miss the first 28 games of the season.
In total, Laich has played in nine games and will have missed 34 following Tuesday night's contest with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
While the team does not believe Laich will require surgery, it is unable to supply any kind of time-table for a potential return. However, Oates stated that Laich will not return to skating until he is able to do so pain-free. Oates expressed the team is concerned about fatigue from lack of use and they are trying to avoid a setback.
Laich was seen at the team’s practice facility on Tuesday walking with a limp, according to Stephen Whyno of the Washignton Times.
