NHL announces Bruins, Penguins to officially play on Saturday

The Boston manhunt is over, allowing the Penguins and Bruins to hit the ice after a one-day delay.

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

The NHL has announced that the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins will officially play Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET at the TD Garden, following the end of the manhunt for the Boston Marathon bomber on Friday evening.

The two teams were originally scheduled to play on Friday, but the game was canceled when a city-wide lockdown was put in place as federal, state and local police searched the city for suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The Penguins-Sabres game that was originally scheduled for Saturday has been moved to Tuesday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m.

It’s safe to say that the scene in Boston on Saturday is must-see television.
