Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis is expected to speak directly to Calgary Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff, according to Darren Dreger of TSN on Tuesday morning.

The Calgary Flames have given the Toronto Maple Leafs permission to speak to goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff. After talking to his agent on Monday, general manager Dave Nonis is expected to speak with Kiprusoff directly on Tuesday.
Dreger reported on Monday that Calgary had given Toronto permission to speak with Kiprusoff. Nonis engaged in discussions with Kiprusoff’s agent Larry Kelly and, apparently, those talks were fruitful enough that the two sides believe direct interaction with the player is warranted.
According to previous reports, it appeared as though Kiprusoff had no desire to be traded. Some accounts stated the goaltender would not report to his new team in the event of a trade, while his former head coach Mike Keenan stated Kiprusoff signed his current contract with the intention of retiring before the final year of the deal.
According to Dreger, that is no longer the case, as he has reported that Kiprusoff is open to a multitude of options including a trade and possibly an extension.
Toronto has expressed interest in acquiring a veteran goaltender to work with James Reimer. In addition to Kiprusoff, Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo has been mentioned as a possibility.
