The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward Mark Letestu to a contract extension, according to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch on Tuesday morning.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have extended the contract of forward Mark Letestu.

Portzline reports that the extension is a two-year, $2.5 million contract that carries an annual average value of $1.25 million against the salary cap. Letestu was playing in the final year of a two-year, $1.25 million contract and would have been an unrestricted free agent this July.
Letestu enters competition on Tuesday night as the second highest scoring player on the Blue Jackets with 20 points in 34 games played. In addition, he is tied for the second most assists on the team with 11 and has the second most goals with nine.
He is averaging 16:28 of ice-time per game, which includes an average of 1:18 on the power play and 2:20 on the penalty kill (second most on the team). Letestu has proven to be a valuable asset in the face-off circle as he has won 52 percent of his draws this season.
Letestu was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2007. He was acquired by the Blue Jackets in 2011 for a fourth-round draft pick.
