Vincent Lecavalier injury: Lightning captain returns to practice

Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier returned to practice on Tuesday morning.

Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier returned to practice in a red no contact jersey on Tuesday morning, according to Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times.

Lecavalier has missed eight games since sustaining a broken bone in his foot against the Florida Panthers on March 12. Originally believed to be a knee injury, the Lightning stated post-game that Lecavalier was fine.

Of course, that ultimately proved not to be the case, as the team announced the following day that he was being placed on injured reserve and was expected to miss more than seven days.

On March 19, Cristodero reported that Lecavalier had broken a bone in his foot. According to his source, the minor fracture was either near or directly on a bone bruise that was sustained after Lecavalier was hit in the foot with a shot by teammate Sami Salo on Feb. 2.

Lecavalier is not expected to play on Tuesday night, but some accounts have made it seem like he potentially could return against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.
