Ryane Clowe trade: Sharks send struggling winger to Rangers for draft picks

Ryane Clowe has reportedly been traded to the Rangers for a second, third, and conditional second if he signs:

Specific return to #SJSharks when it happens: NYR 2nd-round pick (45th right now) and 3rd-round pick NYR have from FLA (61st right now)....

The Sharks have been trying to deal Clowe for awhile now, as he is an unrestricted free agent after this year who doesn't look to fit into the team's future plans. Over the past few days the Rangers were rumored to be in the mix for his services, along with the Flyers, Canucks, and Wild.

Clowe has been having a disappointing year offensively this season, and has the dubious distinction of being the player with the most shots in the league who has yet to score a goal.

The best season of Clowe's career came in 2010-11 when he put up 24 goals, 38 assists, and 100 penalty minutes in 75 games while playing most of the year with young star Logan Couture. Since that year he's been on a downward trajectory, but the Rangers are clearly hoping he can turn things around with a change of scenery.
