Flames vs. Ducks: Calgary fans give Miikka Kiprusoff standing ovation

Kiprusoff won what might have been his final game in Calgary.

USA TODAY Sports

The Calgary Flames don't have much left to play for. They're eliminated from playoff contention and would probably benefit from losing just enough to gain the first overall pick in the draft. The only thing they have left to play for is Miikka Kiprusoff. And they showed up to play on Friday.

The Flames' final home game on Friday very well could have been Kiprusoff's final game in front of Calgary fans. The veteran netminder is reportedly considering hanging up his pads after the season, so this was his last good chance to give back to his long-time fans. He came up big, stopping 33 saves to earn a 3-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks. Flames fans spent the last two minutes chanting "Kipper! Kipper!" as they gave him a standing ovation. It was a touching moment for one of the best hockey players of his generation.
