It may have been necessitated by an injury, but Milan Lucic’s sabbatical from the Bruins lineup will end at just one game for now.
Milan Lucic, Dougie Hamilton back in for the Bruins
The struggling power forward will be inserted back into the Boston lineup today against the Florida Panthers, just 24 hours after being a healthy scratch for the team’s loss to Pittsburgh. He’ll be substituting for Nathan Horton, who is day-to-day with an upper-body injury after hurting himself during a fight with Jarome Iginla yesterday. He seemed to favor his hand after the scrap, which is at least a positive in that it doesn’t appear to be another concussion for the forward.
Lucic has had great success offensively in the past, with 60 points in each of the last two seasons. He’s struggling by any standard in this shortened year, however, with just six goals and 24 points through 41 games. More concerning is that this comes the season before Lucic has a three-year, $18 million extension kick in.
Dougie Hamilton will also return to the Bruins lineup today, as he draws in for Adam McQuaid, who is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
