Minnesota Wild forward Jason Pominville is likely to play against the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 1 of the Western Quarterfinal on Tuesday night, according to Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Monday.
Blackhawks vs. Wild: Jason Pominville likely; Dave Bolland, Ray Emery ruled out
The Wild will likely have Jason Pominville but the Blackhawks won’t have Dave Bolland or Ray Emery for Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinal.
Pominville sustained an unspecified head injury when he was elbowed by Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Brown on April 23 and was forced to miss the final two games of the regular season. While he has yet to be officially confirmed for Game 1, Russo writes that he is "obviously returning" and reports that he skated on a line with Kyle Brodziak and Pierre-Marc Bouchard.
However, while Pominville appears on the verge of a return, Blackhawks forward Dave Bolland and goaltender Ray Emery will not be available for Game 1, according to head coach Joel Quenneville. Both players are considered day-to-day with lower-body injuries.
With Emery out of the lineup, Henrik Karlsson will back up Corey Crawford.
