The Boston Bruins acquired defenseman Wade Redden from the St. Louis Blues, according to multiple reports on Wednesday afternoon.

The Boston Bruins acquired defenseman Wade Redden from the St. Louis Blues prior to Wednesday’s deadline.

In exchange for Redden, the Blues acquired an unspecified draft pick from Boston.
Redden was signed as an unrestricted free agent by St. Louis on Jan. 18 after being administered the first compliance buyout in NHL history by the New York Rangers. Redden is currently playing in a one-year, pro-rated $800,000 contract that will make him an unrestricted free agent in July.
The 35-year-old played in 23 games with the Blues, registering two goals and three assists for five points. He averaged 14:59 of ice-time and played sparingly during the power play averaging 50 seconds per game on the man advantage.
Redden became expendable following the Blues' acquisition of Jordan Leopold and Jay Bouwmeester prior to the trade deadline. Boston had been interested in adding a defenseman and ultimately ended up with Redden.
