Patrick Sharp injury: Blackhawks forward to return Tuesday

Patrick Sharp is expected to return Tuesday night after missing a month with an upper-body injury.

Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp is expected to return against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night, according to head coach Joel Quenneville.

Sharp has missed 14 games due to an undisclosed upper-body injury, which is believed to be his shoulder. The injury was sustained against the Colorado Avalanche on March 6, when Sharp was pinned against the boards in the third period and skated away from the scrum favoring his left side.

The Blackhawks announced two days later that Sharp was expected to miss three-to-four weeks while recovering. That estimation ultimately proved to be accurate.

In 24 games this season, Sharp contributed five goals and 13 assists for a total of 18 points. He averaged 19:08 of ice-time, which was the third most amongst Blackhawks forwards. In addition, he averaged 3:16 of power play time per game, which was the most of any player on the team.
