Kari Lehtonen injury: Stars goaltender leaves game in first period

A lower-body injury forced Lehtonen out of the net.

Dallas Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen left Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Kings in the first period. The team has disclosed that the goaltender suffered a lower-body injury and is questionable to return to the game. Lehtonen was replaced by backup goaltender Richard Bachman.

Lehtonen has a reputation as a fragile player, stemming from the early years of his career when he played for the Atlanta Thrashers. During that time, Lehtonen suffered groin and ankle injuries that caused him to miss large portions of several seasons. He has been much more resilient since joining the Stars in 2010.

Lehtonen has appeared in 30 games for the Stars this season, recording 14 wins, a 2.66 GAA, and a .916 save percentage.
