Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne will be sidelined for four months after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left hip. The team hopes that Rinne will be ready for the start of training camp, but even if he isn't, he should be healthy by the start of the 2013-14 season.

Pekka Rinne underwent hip surgery, but he should be back in time for the start of the 2013-14 season.

Rinne has had a hip problem for a year, but the goalie and the team agreed to put off surgery. He could have continued to delay going under the knife, but after meeting with doctors, they decided it would be best to have the surgery now and repair the hip.
General manager David Poile made it clear that the team did not the operation as a major cause for concern, poining out that Tim Thomas had a similar hip surgery and won the Vezina Trophy the following year.
Despite his injury, Rinne started 42 of the Predators’ 48 games in 2013. The two-time Vezina Trophy finalist went 15-16-8, had a 2.43 GAA and a .910 save percentage.
