Boy, these Islanders are one stingy team in their own barn. Facing elimination, New York leads Pittsburgh 2-1 after the first period thanks to two huge goals.
Penguins vs. Islanders Game 6 update: Isles jump out early on Pittsburgh
John Tavares and Colin McDonald scored, and the Penguins trail 2-1 after one.

Johnny Hockey (also known as John Tavares) punched the Penguins in the mouth with a goal just five minutes and change after the game started. The Isles pulled off one of the best shifts of the playoffs, cycling the puck for a good half a minute before setting Tavares up for a point-blank goal.
But the Penguins have Sidney Crosby. And when you have Sidney Crosby you don't go away easily, as Evgeni Nabokov learned for the thousandth time this series.
After Jarome Iginla's goal, the two teams settled into some bruising hockey for the rest of the period. The Pens and Isles exchanged 27 hits in the first period, so you have to wonder which team will wear down first.
Perhaps it's the Penguins, who gave up this beautiful goal to Colin McDonald with just seconds left in the first period.
