The Buffalo Sabres have fired assistant coaches James Patrick and Kevyn Adams, according to the Buffalo News. The dismissals mark the first two moves made by new head coach Ron Rolston, who was hired this week after finishing last season as the team's interim head coach.

Both Patrick and Adams were hired by former head coach Lindy Ruff, who was fired in February. They finished the season on Rolston’s staff, but most expected Rolston to put together his own staff in the offseason.
Rolston went 15-11-5 after taking over for Ruff. It was his first NHL head coaching job, but he was hardly unqualified. He spent two years coaching the Sabres’ AHL team in Rochester and was a USA Hockey national team development program coach for seven years.
Rolston is not expected to completely overhaul the coaching staff. Goalie coach Jim Corsi is expected to remain on the staff, as is Teppo Numminen, who was an assistant coach last year, but was up in the press box with Corsi and not behind the bench.
