Penguins vs. Senators Game 3 update: Tyler Kennedy gives Pittsburgh the lead

After numerous failed power play opportunities, the Penguins finally got on the board with an even-strength goal late in the 2nd, and lead 1-0 at the second intermission.

The Ottawa Senators began the second period against the Pittsburgh Penguins on the penalty kill thanks to a tripping call against Marc Methot with two seconds remaining in the first, and soon found themselves facing a 5-on-3 kill when they took another penalty for having too many men on the ice.

The aggressive Senators penalty kill, which looked strong in game two after a weak game one, kept the Penguins off the board despite their two-man advantage, and then killed off another penalty a few minutes later after Zack Smith roughed Evgeni Malkin.

The penalties continued midway through the period when Douglas Murray took a holding call against Erik Karlsson. Karlsson took a dive on the same play, because even if Murray did something wrong here this was still a bit of an overreaction:

The game would remain scoreless until the final minutes of the second period, when Tyler Kennedy would score to put the Penguins up 1-0:
