As things went downhill for the Ottawa Senators in Game 5, frustration set in for Chris Neil.
Chris Neil is sad.
The penalty box is a lonely place from which to watch your team lose.
With the score out of hand in the third period and the Senators about to be eliminated, the Sens fighter took a few shots at Penguins defenseman Douglas Murray and ended up in the penalty box for slashing Murray in the family jewels.
He did not agree with the call. He did not like the way the game was going. He was generally unhappy with life.
So he spit and furrowed and cursed and, yes, he even gave the refs the dreaded clap of indignation.
The Senators ended up losing the game 6-2 and the series 4-1. Neil pulled himself together for the handshakes.
