If the New York Rangers are going to continue an improbable comeback from a 0-3 series deficit, they'll need to get the Boston Bruins off their game and have their power play finally click. They achieved both in the first period of Game 5, with Dan Girardi scoring to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead at the break.
Rangers vs. Bruins Game 5 update: Rangers score another power-play goal
Derek Dorsett agitated the Bruins, while Dan Girardi got the Rangers’ another power-play goal.
Agitator Derek Dorsett, as he had in previous games, tried to goad various Boston forwards. But at 6:49 of the period, the Bruins' Shawn Thornton fought with him. Dorsett declined to fight Thornton earlier in the series, but on Saturday afternoon he was ready to go. The two received five-minute fighting majors as well as matching two-minute unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, removing both from the ice for the bulk of the rest of the period.
Fellow fighter Micheal Haley also jawed with Bruins power forward Nathan Horton on the ensuing faceoff, though they kept their gloves on and their bodies out of the box.
Girardi's power-play goal came three minutes later, on a point shot through traffic after a perfect tee-up from Mats Zuccarello.
After struggling throughout the playoffs, the Rangers now have power-play goals in consecutive games.
Dorsett continued to draw the attention of the Bruins, with Milan Lucic here making sure to catch up to him and give him some extra medicine:

The Bruins have defenseman Dennis Seidenberg in the lineup for the first time this series. He returned from injury, making Dougie Hamilton a healthy scratch.
