For the first time since 1997, a goaltender will grace the cover of EA Sports' NHL videogame franchise. Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils and Sergei Bobrovsky of the Columbus Blue Jackets have been announced as the two finalists of the NHL 14 cover vote.

The vote has spanned several weeks and began with two members from each of the NHL’s 30 teams competing for the right to represent their club in voting. From there, each player was placed into a bracket and voted upon by the fans. Now, only two players remain.

Bobrovsky beat New York Islanders forward John Tavares in the semifinal round, while Brodeur bested Detroit Red Wings star Pavel Datsyuk. The two netminders will battle it out for right to appear on the cover.

Voting begins on Monday, May 27 and will conclude on June 2. The winner of the round will be announced at some point during the Stanley Cup Final.
