Well, that escalated quickly. Detroit took a 2-1 lead in the second period and never looked back, as the Blackhawks now have 20 minutes to salvage their season.
Blackhawks vs. Red Wings Game 6 update: Detroit smells blood in the water
Corey Crawford’s gaffe gave the Wings a 2-1 lead and all of the momentum.

Detroit took the momentum they gained in the dying minutes of the first period and ran with it in the second, pressuring the Blackhawks with physicality and firepower early on. For a brief moment, it looked like that energy would cost them. Johan Franzen got sent to the box for this high hit early in the period.
Seconds after killing that penalty, the Wings got called for too many men on the ice. So ... not a good start to the second period. They managed to kill that penalty as well and finally got things going when Joakim Andersson's floater paralyzed Corey Crawford.
With a new lead, Detroit didn’t let up the pressure. They outshot Chicago 18-10 in the second and have all the momentum heading into the final frame.
