Robyn Regehr signed a two-year, $6 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday, ESPN's Arash Markazi reports. The 33-year-old defenseman was traded from the Buffalo Sabres to the Kings before this past season's trade deadline in exchange for two second-round draft picks.

The Los Angeles Kings shored up their blue line for the next few seasons by giving veteran Robyn Regehr a contract extension.

With Los Angeles, Regehr brought stability to a defense that lost Willie Mitchell and Matt Greene to injury. Mitchell missed all of the 2012-13 season with a knee problem and could even miss next season as well. Greene only recently returned to the Kings' lineup after only playing five games because of a back surgery.

Meanwhile, Regehr was consistent and brought a calming influence to Los Angeles. He has played in all of the Kings' 13 playoff games this postseason and for his career has played in 997 games with the Calgary Flames, Sabres and Kings.
And looking to the next two years, the signing takes a bit of uncertainty away from the Kings. Slava Voynov, Jake Muzzin, Alec Martinez and Keaton Ellerby will be restricted free agents this offseasons, and Rob Scuderi is an unrestricted free agent.
