    The Capitals were on the power play in the first period when Stepan carried the puck into the Capitals zone with Ovechkin and Erat in hot pursuit. As Erat reached under Stepan’s arm, his wrist appeared to get pinned by Stepan right as Ovechkin arrived from the side to deliver a check.

    Home-ice advantage has been a non-factor in this matchup, as each team has managed to steal a game on the road. This isn’t all that surprising, as the road team won each of the three regular season meetings between the two clubs.

    Despite Detroit’s best efforts, the Ducks have controlled the lead throughout this four-game set. The Red Wings have knotted the series on two separate occasions and will attempt to take their first lead with a win on Wednesday night.

    Rangers look to even up series with Caps

    The New York Rangers rediscovered their offense in a 4-3 Game 3 win over the Washington Capitals and they are back in the series because of it, but the work isn’t done yet. They still trail the Capitals 2-1 in the series and if they lose on Wednesday night it may be their last game of the season at Madison Square Garden.

    New York scored just one goal in the first two games of the series and looked doomed to an early playoff exit, but it turned when the series moved to MSG. They drew penalties, pinned the Capitals in and while they gave away one third period lead, when Derek Stepan scored with 6:25 remaining, they made it stick.
