The Carolina Hurricanes are receiving offers for the No. 5 overall selection in the 2013 NHL Draft, according to Elliotte Friedman of CBC.
NHL Draft 2013: Hurricanes receiving offers for No. 5 overall selection
The Carolina Hurricanes have been solicited with offers for the No. 5 overall selection in the 2013 NHL Draft.

Several teams at the top of the draft have indicated that they would consider moving out of their position for the right deal. This includes public statements by the Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators. However, Friedman stated on Saturday night during CBC's Hotstove segment that the first four selections appeared unlikely to move.
With this in mind, Carolina has been solicited by teams looking to trade up in the draft. According to Friedman, the Edmonton Oilers have held discussions with the Hurricanes about the pick. Oilers president Kevin Lowe previously stated that the team is willing to leverage the No. 7 overall selection to help improve the team. The final decision on whether they choose to do so will be left to general manager Craig MacTavish.
In terms of Carolina’s interest in trading the No. 5 pick, Friedman states that the club would be willing to do so for the right deal. Of course, that’s a relative phrase. The Hurricanes’ valuation of the No. 5 pick might not align with the valuation from a rival club. It remains unclear what the Hurricanes are looking for in return.
When looking at the potential scenario including Edmonton, one would imagine that the Oilers are targeting a player that either Carolina or the Calgary Flames are looking to pick. Otherwise, the team would have no motivation to trade up two spots.
The 2013 NHL Draft is scheduled to take place on June 30. All seven rounds will be held on that day.
