NHL Players' Association assistant Mathieu Schneider stated that the NHL's general managers have approved all the recommendations of the competition committee on Wednesday. Those recommendations include the grandfathering of visors, hybrid icing, shallower nets and video review on all four-minute high-sticking penalties.

The NHL’s general managers have consented to the recommendations of the competition committee regarding potential rule changes.

Beginning next season, all players coming into the league will be required to wear a visor. Players who have played more than 25 career NHL games will not be forced to wear a protective shield. In terms of hybrid icing, the format will be tested in the preseason before it is collectively decided whether it will be used in the regular season.
The nets will still remain the same in terms of height and width, but the nets will be four inches smaller in depth.
Now that the general managers have approved the concepts, they will be presented before the NHL’s Board of Governors on June 27 in order to seek their approval.
