The Chicago Blackhawks kept their Game 1 groove going by scoring in the second and last minutes of the first period to lead the Los Angeles Kings 2-0 at the first intermission.

The Hawks kept their good times rolling with two goals in the first period.

Playing on the second of back-to-back nights, the Hawks struck quickly, with a Nick Leddy pinch preventing a Kings clear, enabling Viktor Stalberg to feed Andrew Shaw for a shot that rang in off the post behind Jonathan Quick:
That goal seemed to wake up the Kings, however, as the defending Stanley Cup champs rang six shots in a row and drew a power play when Brent Seabrook crosschecked Colin Fraser.
As they have all playoffs, the Blackhawks killed that off, keeping the Chicago penalty kill perfect on home ice during the playoffs and 43-for-44 overall in the postseason.
The Hawks then extended their lead when Seabrook sent this slapshot high and far-side past Jonathan Quick's shoulder:
The biggest hit of the period was probably this collision between Dustin Brown and Duncan Keith:
Ironically, Keith’s losing his balance before Brown hit him may have lessened the impact.
The Kings are playing without Mike Richards and Jake Muzzin, each late scratches and each victims of big hits in Game 1. Tyler Toffoli replaced Richards in the lineup, while Muzzin's replacement was Alec Martinez, who hadn't played since Game 2 of the previous series.
