Despite reports to the contrary, the Dallas Stars' head coaching position still remains vacant, according to Darren Dreger of TSN on Thursday afternoon.
Lindy Ruff not yet hired by Stars, John Tortorella still in mix, according to report
Lindy Ruff has not yet been hired by the Dallas Stars, despite a reported confirmation from the team’s CEO.

Earlier in the day, a report surfaced from Travis Brown of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that Stars president and CEO Jim Lites stated a deal was done with Ruff while at a luncheon in Fort Worth. In addition, Lites stated he had just met with Ruff and shook his hand as confirmation of the agreement. Shortly after, Lites told Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News that the deal was not done but the franchise was interested in Ruff.
Apparently, the prospective coach is presently in Frisco, Texas.
Dreger reports that Ruff is believed to have the inside track on the position. However, general manager Jim Nill was impressed by former New York Rangers coach John Tortorella. Dreger states that Nill will spend a few days with Ruff before coming to a final decision on the team's next head coach.
