Lindy Ruff agrees to become Stars new head coach
Despite conflicting reports on Thursday, Lindy Ruff has come to terms on an agreement with the Dallas Stars.

This development comes less than 24 hours removed from the team’s CEO and president Jim Lites reportedly confirming Ruff’s hiring at a luncheon in Fort Worth on Thursday. Lites stated that he had met with Ruff in Frisco, Texas, before the luncheon, according to Travis Brown of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
After Brown's report surfaced, Mike Heika received comment from Lites stating the deal was not yet completed. Darren Dreger of TSN followed up the reports by adding that former New York Rangers head coach John Tortorella had made a strong impression on general manager Jim Nill during his interview. However, Dreger identified Ruff as the leading candidate for the position.
Based upon Dreger’s understanding, Nill was going to spend a few days with Ruff before making a final decision. That apparently will no longer be necessary.
