Some careless play nearly doomed them, but the Blackhawks scored late to bring the score to 2-1 after two periods in Game 3.
Kings vs. Blackhawks Game 3 update: Chicago hanging around after two
Los Angeles extended its lead early, but Chicago scored late to keep Game 3 close.
Once again, Los Angeles struck first. Red-hot Slava Voynov shattered his stick but still managed to score at 6:37, staking his team to a 2-0 lead.
That wasn’t the only way the second period paralleled the first period. Los Angeles dominated possession again, playing most of the first ten minutes in the Chicago zone. By the end of the frame L.A. had outshot the Blackhawks 9-3.
Chicago didn't help itself. Duncan Keith got four minutes for trying to hack Jeff Carter's face off.
Miraculously, the Blackhawks killed the penalty off. Perhaps even more miraculously, they escaped the period only down a goal thanks to some opportunistic offense from Bryan Bickell.
Unfortunately they could be without Patrick Sharp after this elbow from Dustin Brown.
