Stars vs. Wild: Jamie Benn checks Matt Cooke in the face

Could a suspension be heading Benn’s way?

The Dallas Stars continued their miserable January with a 3-2 loss in Minnesota, but that’s the least of their worries if captain Jamie Benn is suspended for his actions during the game.

Just under a minute into overtime, Benn landed a pretty blatant check to the head of Wild winger Matt Cooke.

No penalty was assessed on the play, but the league is almost certainly going to take a look at this. Benn is a repeat offender, having been fined $10,000 for cross-checking Ryan Jones last March.
