The NHL has scheduled an in-person meeting with John Tortorella on Monday in New York after the Vancouver Canucks coach caused a scrum going after Flames coaches in the hallway on Saturday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada.
John Tortorella to meet with NHL after hallway scrum with Flames coaches
The NHL will hand down punishment for his role in Saturday’s fracas.

The Canucks and Flames began with a massive line brawl that resulted in 170 penalty minutes dished out in the first period. Incensed with Flames coach Bob Hartley's decision to start his fourth liners, Tortorella stormed down the Flames' tunnel after the first period and caused a traffic jam in the hallway.
Canucks assistant coach Glen Gulutzan tried to pull Tortorella away while forward Alex Burrows ended up facewashing Flames goalie coach Clint Malarchuk. It was all very bizarre.
Keep in mind that Tortorella’s discipline will fall under Colin Campbell’s jurisdiction, not Brendan Shanahan.
This isn't the first time Tortorella has run afoul of the NHL. He was suspended one game during the playoffs in 2009 when he threw a water bottle at a Washington Capitals fan. Torts was also fined $20,000 in 2012 for calling Penguins players Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin "whining stars" and fined $30,000 that same year for spouting Winter Classic conspiracy theories.
So I guess you could say he’s a repeat offender. As for his part in the line brawl, Tortorella was apologetic for putting his players at risk.
"I can't put our players at risk that way. I'm not proud of it. I've apologized to all of the players involved." - Torts
