It remains to be seen what direction the Calgary Flames are going in the post-Jay Feaster era, but it appears that center Matt Stajan is going to be a part of it.
Matt Stajan signs 4-year contract extension with Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames are keeping veteran center Matt Stajan after signing him to a four-year contract extension.

The team announced on Monday evening that it has signed the veteran center to a four-year contract that will pay him $3.125 million per season. That cap hit is actually a decrease from his current deal, a contract that expires after this season, that pays him $3.5 million per year.
Stajan, 30, was acquired by the Flames back in 2010 as part of a package from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for defenseman Dion Phaneuf. The Flames also acquired Niklas Hagman, Jamal Mayers and Ian White in that deal. Stajan is the only player who remains with Calgary.
His offensive production has declined in recent years and is currently at the level you might expect from a third-line forward. He hasn’t scored more than 10 goals in a season since 2009-10, and has topped 30 points just once over that period. What he does do for the Flames is handle a lot of tough minutes and take on a mostly defensive role.
