Minnesota Wild goalie Darcy Kuemper found himself in a bad spot on Tuesday night and reacted in the only reasonable way -- he threw his stick in an effort to prevent a goal.
Darcy Kuemper throws stick, then gets smoked on penalty shot
Throwing your stick is against the rules, and Jordie Benn is here to take advantage.

That play works great when you're playing a pickup game of street hockey with your buddies. The only problem is that's an illegal play in the NHL, and it resulted in Dallas Stars defenseman Jordie Benn getting a penalty shot.
It did not end well for Kuemper and the Wild.
For a guy that had scored just two goals in his NHL career prior to that penalty shot, that’s a pretty sweet move. Maybe Lindy Ruff should consider using him in his next shootout.
