Henrik Zetterberg injury: Red Wings captain scratched with upper-body injury

Dan Cleary will take his spot in the lineup.

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

More bad news on the injury front for the Detroit Red Wings, as captain and left winger Henrik Zetterberg was scratched on Sunday with an upper-body injury.

Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reported the injury after Zetterberg didn't appear for warmups. He's day-to-day while Dan Cleary will take his place in the lineup against the Florida Panthers.

If the Red Wings thought they were out of the injury-plagued woods this month, they were wrong. They recently got Johan Franzen suited up to play again, but this is the latest setback in a very unhealthy season in Detroit. Pavel Datsyuk, Stephen Weiss and Joakim Andersson are among the injured forwards for the Red Wings, leaving them very thin up the middle. Zetterberg missed a month earlier this season with a herniated disc.
