Cam Ward injury: No timetable for Hurricane goalie’s return

Ward is suffering through another lower-body injury.

Cam Ward's injury-plagued season continues on, as the Hurricanes goalie will miss Carolina's game on Sunday with a lower-body injury.

In fact, coach Kirk Muller told reporters on Saturday that Ward’s MRI was negative and there is no timetable for his return. He also confirmed Ward had not aggravated his groin injury he suffered earlier in the season.

Anton Khudobin will get the start in net for Carolina instead of Ward.

Ward missed a month early in the season with a groin injury, the latest setback in what is now two years of lingering injury issues. He hasn’t exactly been a world-beater when healthy, going just 6-7-5 with a 3.15 goals against average and a .895 save percentage in 19 games this season. You could make the case that he’s the biggest reason the Hurricanes have struggled this season.

The Hurricanes will have to decide to send down either Khudobin or Justin Peters when Ward returns.
