Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara left their game against the New York Islanders on Thursday night after taking just five shifts and playing a little more than four minutes.

According to TSN’s Aaron Ward, Chara is believed to have a left knee injury and could miss 4-6 weeks.

On his next-to-last shift of the game, Chara delivered a huge open ice hit to Islanders captain John Tavares (shown above). He didn't seem to be immediately shaken up as a result of the hit, but played only 40 more seconds after that collision.

The 33-year-old Chara has two goals and an assist in eight games this season for the Bruins.
