NHL schedule: Top Canadian goalies meeting in Montreal; Pavel Datsyuk returns for Red Wings

No other player in the league has more than 30. That’s pretty special, and worthy of some extra attention.

You can watch hockey for another 100 years and you will probably never see another night like that.

Regin and Bouchard were the Islanders’ two biggest free agent signings of the offseason and it’s probably fair to say, given the return, that they didn’t work out entirely as planned.

Even though neither player has put up impressive numbers for the Islanders this season they’ve both had flashes of success in the NHL and the cost to acquire them is minimal. Add in the fact that New York is picking up salary and it’s a no-risk trade that has at least a little bit of upside.

On the first one, Pacioretty just completely missed the net, shanking the shot wide and firing it off the glass. On the second one he simply could not get any elevation to lift it over Roberto Luongo’s leg.

If nothing else, he at least put himself in the record books. So he has that going for him.

You know it’s a great shot when you’re able to knock the goalie’s water bottle off the top of the net.

But when you’re able to do what Erik Karlsson did on Thursday night and completely blow the thing up, well, that’s just awesome.

You can be the judge as to whether or not that was the correct call.

Nope. It’s still never boring when Patrick Roy is involved.

The only problem is it went in the wrong net.

This is Erat’s 50th game of the season and he’s yet to score a goal for his team. The longer that streak goes on, the more historic it gets. The guy simply cannot catch a break when it comes to putting the puck in the right net, and now the bad luck has carried over to the defensive zone.

Canada’s top two goalies are expected to get the start on Thursday night when Vancouver visits Montreal, so who will put together the best showing: Carey Price or Roberto Luongo? One of these two men will be starting for team Canada in the Olympics.
