The last few years in Vancouver have not been kind to Roberto Luongo.

After signing a 12-year contract with the Canucks in 2009, Luongo saw his starting job come under fire as Cory Schneider rose through the system. Luongo handled the whole thing gracefully, even when Vancouver traded Schneider to New Jersey after Luongo had "moved on" mentally from the organization.
Fences appeared to mend over the course of this season, but now Luongo seemingly feels mistreated again after the Canucks announced Eddie Lack will start in the Heritage Classic against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday.
As it turns out, Luongo told reporters he had been looking forward to the game since the start of the season:
Luongo: "I've always wanted to play in an outdoor game."
— Jason Botchford (@botchford) March 1, 2014 Luongo was asked about losing net to Lack "I'm just here to play man. I don't want to start going through this whole thing again"
— Shawn McKenzie (@ShawnMcKenzieSN) March 1, 2014 It sounds like Luongo is once again questioning his role in Vancouver’s plans between the pipes. You can’t help but feel for Luongo, who has played his way back into the starting role only to get passed over for one of the league’s marquee events.
But don’t expect trade rumors to start popping up now that he’s expressed his unhappiness. That 12-year contract is an albatross.
Luongo is 19-16-6 with a 2.38 goals against average this season, while Lack is 9-8-4 with a 2.05 GAA.
