Evgeny Kuznetsov was so close to scoring his first goal

It doesn’t get much closer than this.

Now that prized prospect Evgeny Kuznetsov has finally made it to Washington, the next step is scoring his first NHL goal. It very nearly happened on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh when he had this glorious scoring chance in the second period of Washington's 2-0 loss.

After initially hitting the post, the puck hit off the skate blade of Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury and bounced harmlessly away.

After playing just 10 minutes in his debut on Monday, Kuznetsov saw his ice-time go up to 15 minutes on Tuesday. He finished the game with three shots on goal.
