NHL Draft lottery 2014: 13 teams have chance at No. 1 overall pick
Thirteen teams have a chance at winning the first overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft. The lottery is Tuesday.

The 2014 NHL Draft lottery will be drawn on Tuesday, April 15 at 8 p.m. ET in Toronto. Although 14 teams will be included in the drawing, only 13 have a chance at winning the lottery and grabbing the first overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.
All 14 non-playoff teams are entered in the drawing, but this year, due to league sanction following the Ilya Kovalchuk contract debacle, the New Jersey Devils will be unable to win the lottery. They are locked in with the 30th and final pick in the 2014 draft. The Devils are still included in Tuesday’s drawing, however, since taking them out would alter the odds of the other 13 teams in the lottery. In the event that the Devils are drawn, there will be an immediate redraw.
NHL playoff predictions
The lottery this year determines the order for the first 13 picks in the NHL Draft order. Once a winner is drawn, the remaining lottery teams will be slotted in reverse order based on their regular season point totals. The following 16 picks will be determined by reverse finishing order of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs. New Jersey will pick last.

2. Florida Panthers - 18.8%
3. Edmonton Oilers - 14.2%
4. Calgary Flames - 10.7%
5. New York Islanders - 8.1%
6. Vancouver Canucks - 6.2%
7. Carolina Hurricanes - 4.7%
8. Toronto Maple Leafs - 3.6%
9. Winnipeg Jets - 2.7%
10. Anaheim Ducks (from Ottawa) - 2.1%
11. New Jersey Devils - 1.5%
12. Nashville Predators - 1.1%
13. Phoenix Coyotes - 0.8%
14. Washington Capitals - 0.5%
The Anaheim Ducks acquired Ottawa’s first-round 2014 draft choice in last summer’s Bobby Ryan trade.
NBCSN and TSN will carry the lottery live at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday. The 2014 NHL Draft will be held in Philadelphia on June 27 and 28.
