Rene Bourque splits the Tampa Bay defense

What a beautiful goal scored by ... Rene Bourque?

Rene Bourque had a pretty forgettable season for the Montreal Canadiens, scoring just nine goals in 63 games in a greatly reduced role. But sometimes the playoffs present a player with an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and get a fresh start.

He made quite the impact in the second period on Friday when he blew past Tampa Bay defensemen Eric Brewer and Sami Salo before sliding the puck past goalie Anders Lindback to give Montreal a 2-0 lead.

That is Bourque’s first goal of this year’s playoffs, and just the fourth playoff goal of his career.

The Canadiens have been getting goals from some unlikely places so far in this series, with Bourque scoring this beauty and Dale Weise scoring the overtime winner in Game 1.
