The Stanley Cup Playoffs continue Friday evening with three first round games. In the Western Conference, two teams try to turn the tide as they return home, while in the East, the Philadelphia Flyers need a win to avoid going down 3-1 to the New York Rangers.

Home teams in the Western Conference have won 15 of 16 games played so far in this first round, which means that in the two Games 5 being played Friday night, teams are returning home after blowing two-game series leads on the road.

The St. Louis Blues return to Scottrade Center where they won Games 1 and 2 in overtime against the Chicago Blackhawks before dropping Games 3 and 4 at United Center. The series might be the most-even in the playoffs so far, with overtime deciding three of the four games thus far.

The Anaheim Ducks also dropped Games 3 and 4 on the road to the Dallas Stars, and they’re reeling in a series that’s become nastier than many expected. Anaheim’s starting goaltender is up in the air, while the Stars re-enter Honda Center confident against the West’s top seed.

In Philadelphia, the Flyers are saying all the right things, but certainly need to play much better in order to even their series in Game 4 against the New York Rangers on Friday night. New York’s shot blockers were incredible in their Game 3 win, and the Flyers have spent several days working on how to get more creative against the Rangers defense.
